DOJ/OJP RIN: 1121-AA69 Publication ID: Spring 2015
Title: Victim of Crime Act (VOCA) Victim Assistance Program
Abstract: The Victim Assistance Program Regulations provide the parameters under which State agencies may use these funds to award grants to Government and nonprofit organizations to provide direct services to crime victims. Local programs include child abuse, homicide survivor, drunk driving, sexual assault, and domestic violence. More than 3 million crime victims are served through these grants. Victims of Crime Act (VOCA) funds are obtained from the Crime Victims Fund in the U.S. Treasury, which consists of fines, fees, and bond forfeitures from Federal offenders. Costs to States are limited, as the VOCA grant provides for administrative costs for these programs.
