Title: Adoptions: Regulatory Change to Clarify the Application of the Accreditation Requirement and Standards in Cases Covered by the Intercountry Adoption Universal Accreditation Act | |
Abstract:
This rule amends 22 CFR part 96 to clarify that, pursuant to the Intercountry Adoption Universal Accreditation Act of 2012 (UAA) (Pub. L. 112-276), the 1993 Hague Convention on Protection of Children and Co-operation in Respect of Intercountry Adoption (Convention) and the Intercountry Adoption Act of 2000 (IAA) apply also in "orphan" cases described in section 101(b)(1)(F) of the Immigration and Nationality Act (8 U.S.C. 1101(b)(1)(F)). This rule also revises part 96 by referring to a new Department of Homeland Security Convention home study regulation and deleting obsolete references to temporary accreditation. |
