Title: Schedule of Fees for Consular Services, Department of State and Overseas Embassies and Consulates-–Visa and Citizenship Services Fee Changes | |
Abstract:
This rule amends the Schedule of Fees for consular services (Schedule) for certain nonimmigrant visa application processing fees (also known as Machine Readable Visas or MRVs), certain immigrant visa application processing and special visa services fees, and certain citizenship services fees. The rule provides amended application processing fees for certain categories of petition-based nonimmigrant visas as well as amended tiered application processing fees for immigrant visas. The rule provides for an amended security surcharge for immigrant visa services and amended fees for certain immigrant visa services. Finally, the rule provides an amended application processing fee for renunciation of U.S. citizenship and the hourly consular officer time charge. The Department of State is adjusting the fees in light of the finding of a recent Cost of Service study that the U.S. Government is not adequately covering its costs for the processing of certain visas and services for U.S. citizens overseas under the current fee structure. |
