Title: Certification, Compliance, and Enforcement for Consumer Products and Commercial and Industrial Equipment | |
Abstract:
DOE is conducting a rulemaking to revise its certification, compliance, and enforcement regulations applicable to consumer products and commercial and industrial equipment. Specifically, DOE is proposing changes to its reporting requirements for certain products so that they align with those of the Federal Trade Commission (FTC). This is intended to reduce reporting burden by enabling manufacturers to report certification data to a single agency rather than to both agencies. DOE is also proposing changes to the certification and reporting requirements for products with energy conservation standards that have been recently amended to reflect changes in these standards. Finally, the notice proposes various minor revisions to existing certification, compliance, enforcement, and adjudication procedures applicable to both consumer products and commercial and industrial equipment to improve the clarity and readability of the regulatory language, and to ensure that manufacturers report certification data accurately and consistently. |
