View Rule

This Rule represents phase one in a comprehensive rewrite of the NASA FAR Supplement (NFS). The rewrite will accomplish basic administrative cleanup of the document, correct numbering inconsistencies, incorporate guidance currently existing outside of the NFS, add new policy, and delete outdated policy. The effort will also identify opportunities for efficiencies and streamlining and include changes accordingly. The goal is to lessen the regulatory burden on the public. The update to the NASA FAR Supplement will be done in three phases. This first phase will amend part 1815, Contracting By Negotiation; 1834, Major System Acquisition; part 1841, Acquisition of Utility Services; part 1846, Quality Assurances; part 1851, Use of Government Sources by Contractors; and part 1852, Solicitation Provisions and Contract Clauses. The revisions to this rule are part of NASA's retrospective plan under Executive Order 13563, completed in August 2011. NASA's full plan can be accessed at: http://www.nasa.gov/open.
