NTSB RIN: 3147-AA02 Publication ID: Spring 2015
Title: Rules of Practice in Transportation: Investigative Hearings; Meetings; Reports; and Petitions for Reconsideration
Abstract:

On March 19, 2015, the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) published a Notice of Proposed Rulemaking to revise 49 CFR part 845, which contains rules of procedure applicable to the issuance of NTSB investigation reports, as well as rules regarding procedures for Board meetings and hearings. 80 FR 14339. The proposed revisions will update various terms and other outdated information; reorganize the part to ensure reports, meetings, hearings, and other major items exist in an appropriate subpart; and describe the procedure for issuing reports, and holding Board events (such as meetings, forums, symposiums, and hearings) in a more accurate manner than the descriptions contained in the current version of part 845. The NTSB’s NPRM for part 845 is a step succeeding the update to 49 CFR part 831, pursuant to the NTSB’s plan for retrospective review of all NTSB regulations. The NTSB published this retrospective review plan in the Federal Register in June 2012.
