Title: Revise Part 71 for IAEA and DOT Compatibility [NRC-2008-0198] | |
Abstract:
The final rule amends the Commission's regulations at 10 CFR part 71 to make the requirements compatible with the 2009 edition of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Transportation Safety Standards, TS-R-1, and consistent with changes to the Department of Transportation (DOT) Hazardous Materials Regulations. This rulemaking would make other changes to 10 CFR part 71. The final rule (1) clarifies the general license requirements, (2) makes changes to the exemptions relating to the classification of fissile material and low-level materials, and (3) makes changes to the oversight of quality assurance programs to make it more efficient. |
