Title: Incorporate by Reference IEEE 603-2009, Standard Criteria for Safety Systems for Nuclear Power Generating Stations [NRC-2011-0089] | |
Abstract:
The proposed rule would amend the Commission’s regulations to incorporate by reference the IEEE 603-2009 Standard Criteria for Safety Systems for Nuclear Power Generating Stations into 10 C.F.R. 50.55a. The NRC has a well-established practice of approving and/or mandating the use of IEEE standards in 10 C.F.R. 50.55a through the rulemaking process of incorporation by reference. This practice assures consistency across the industry and that the NRC will continue to support the use of the most updated and technically sound techniques developed by the IEEE to provide adequate protection to the public. This rulemaking also enhances the efficiency and effectiveness of NRC regulations by making use of current voluntary consensus standards and is consistent with applicable requirements of the National Technology Transfer and Advancement Act. |
