The rule implemented a new Direct Farm Operating Microloan that will provide Farm Operating loans of up to $50,000 that are expected to most benefit beginning farmers and farmers with small farms that have less traditional farm operations, and specialty crop producers seeking to purchase or enlarge relatively smaller plots of land, who are not typically FSA customers.  FSA successfully implemented the Direct Microloan Program, under $50,000, for operating loans and decided to expand the ML Program to Farm Operating loans to reach more small and beginning farmers.  The Direct Farm Operating Microloan process is streamlined compared to a standard Farm Operating loan.
