Title: Addition of Namibia to the List of Countries Eligible to Export Meat Products to the United States
Abstract:

The Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) proposed to amend its meat products inspection regulations to add Namibia to the list of countries eligible to export meat products to the United States (9 CFR 327.2). Namibia is not currently listed as eligible to export such products to the United States. If this proposed rule is adopted, any meat and meat products exported to the United States from Namibia will be subject to reinspection at the ports-of-entry for transportation damage, labeling, proper certification, general condition, and accurate box count. FSIS will also conduct other types of inspection, including examination of products for defects and sampling and laboratory analysis of products' chemical residues, or for microbiological contamination. Products that pass reinspection will be stamped with the official United States mark of inspection, and allowed to enter United States commerce. If they do not meet United States requirements, they will be refused entry and must be re-exported, destroyed, or converted to animal food.
