Title: ●Implementation of the NICS Improvement Amendments Act of 2007 (NIAA) | |
Abstract:
This rule proposes to implement provisions of the NICS Improvement Amendment Act (NIAA) that require Federal agencies to provide relevant records to the Attorney General for inclusion in the National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS). The proposed rule will identify appropriate criteria for referring individuals to NICS, reporting frequency, notification standards for individuals who are referred to NICS, and a process whereby individuals may request relief from firearms prohibitions based on SSA’s adjudications. |
