Title: Endangered and Threatened Wildlife and Plants; Critical Habitat Designation for Three Hawaiian Big Island Plant Species | |
Abstract:
We proposed to designate critical habitat for three plant species on Hawaii Island on Oct, 17, 2012. With this final rule, we will designate critical habitat to the maximum extent prudent and determinable for the three Hawaiian plant species. Approximately 18,766 acres (7,597 hectares) were proposed as critical habitat in seven multispecies critical habitat units on lands owned by the U.S. National Park Service, State of Hawaii, County of Hawaii, and private interests. Fifty-five percent of the area is already designated as critical habitat for previously listed plant and animal species. We are correcting maps for four other listed plant species with currently designated critical habitat. |
