Title: Endangered and Threatened Wildlife and Plants; Critical Habitat Designations for Five Species in American Samoa (Friendly Ground-Dove et al.) | |
Abstract:
We will designate critical habitat, to the maximum extent prudent and determinable, under the Endangered Species Act for five American Samoa species: the Pacific sheath-tailed bat (South Pacific subspecies; also known as Peapea vai, Tagiti, and Beka), Mao (a bird species), friendly (shy) ground-dove (also known as Tuaimeo; American Samoa distinct population segment (DPS)), sisi snail, and Tutuila tree snail. We are developing a listing determination for the species as a separate rulemaking action (1018-AZ97). All of these species are endemic to one or more countries within the Polynesian and Northern Mariana Islands, including American Samoa. |
