Title: ●Endangered and Threatened Wildlife and Plants; Proposed Removal of the Scarlet-Chested Parakeet and Turquoise Parakeet From the List of Endangered and Threatened Wildlife | |
Abstract:
We reopened the public comment period on our September 2, 2003, proposed rule to delist the scarlet-chested parakeet and the turquoise parakeet. The scarlet-chested parakeet is endemic to central South Australia and inland southern Western Australia, while the turquoise parakeet is native to Eastern Australia. We are taking this action to offer interested parties an opportunity to comment on whether delisting these species is still warranted, and to ensure that our determination is based on the best scientific and commercial information available. |
