Title: Lead-Based Paint Program; Amendment to Jurisdictions and Renovator Refresher Training Requirements | |
Abstract:
On February 17, 2016, the EPA published a final rule that implements several minor amendments to the EPA's lead-based paint program that improves efficiencies and saves resources for those involved. The final rule modifies the requirement for hands-on refresher training for renovators so that they can take the refresher course online and without the need to travel to a training facility for the hands-on portion. Renovators may take the online course without hands-on learning every other time they get recertified. Renovators who take the online refresher training without hands-on learning will be certified for three years. Renovators who take the refresher with hands-on learning will be certified for five years. The EPA also amended the lead-based paint abatement program by removing the requirement for firms, training providers and individuals to apply for and be certified or accredited in each EPA-administered jurisdiction where they work (i.e., state, tribe or territory where the EPA runs the abatement program). |
