Abstract: This rule would amend the rules of practice and procedures for the Federal Housing Finance Agency to adjust each civil money penalty within its jurisdiction to account for inflation, pursuant to the Federal Civil Penalties Inflation Adjustment Act of 1990, as amended by the Federal Civil Penalties Inflation Adjustment Act Improvement Act of 2015.

Overall Description of Deadline: The Federal Civil Penalties Inflation Adjustment Act Improvements Act of 2015 (Sec. 701 of PL 114-74), further amended the Federal Civil Penalties Inflation Adjustment Act of 1990, to improve the effectiveness of civil monetary penalties and to maintain their deterrent effect. The Act requires Agencies to publish interim final rules with the initial penalty adjustment amounts by July 1, 2016, and the new penalty levels must take effect no later than August 1, 2016.
