Title: Effluent Guidelines and Standards for the Dental Point Source Category 
Abstract:

The EPA proposed technology-based pretreatment standards under the Clean Water Act (CWA) for discharges of pollutants into publicly owned treatment works (POTWs) from existing and new dental practices that discharge dental amalgam. Dental amalgam contains mercury and other metals that have the potential to pass through or interfere with municipal wastewater treatment at POTWs. The EPA is evaluating best management practices, such as use of amalgam separators, as a regulatory requirement.
