Title: Pipeline Safety: Inflation Adjustment of Maximum Civil Penalties 
Abstract: PHMSA is increasing the maximum civil penalties for any person who is determined to have violated a provision of 49 U.S.C. 60101 et seq., or any regulation or order issued thereunder to a civil penalty not to exceed $206,000 for each violation for each day and to $2,060,000 for any related series of violations. In addition to the above penalties, the penalty for any person who is determined to have violated any standard or order under 49 U.S.C. 60103 or 60111 (liquefied natural gas pipeline facilities) is increased to not more than $51,500 for each violation. The maximum penalty for any person who is determined to have violated a standard or order under 49 U.S. C. 60129 is increased to a civil penalty of not more than $1,030 for each violation, which may be in addition to other penalties to which such a person may be subject under paragraph(a) of this section. These adjustments are required by the Federal Civil Penalties Inflation Adjustment Act of 2015.
