Title: Civil Penalty Inflation Adjustment Rule 
Abstract:

On November 2, 2015, the President signed into law the Federal Civil Penalties Inflation Adjustment Act Improvements Act of 2015, which further amended the Federal Civil Penalties Inflation Adjustment Act of 1990, to improve the effectiveness of civil monetary penalties and to maintain their deterrent effect. Under the Act, each Federal agency is now required to publish by interim final rule, a catch-up inflation adjustment, which shall be effective by August 1, 2016. This rule will adjust the civil penalty amounts within the CFPB’s jurisdiction in accordance with that statutory requirement.
