Title: Wupatki National Monument; Backcountry Use
Abstract:

This proposed rule would promulgate special regulations for Wupatki National Monument to prohibit visitor access to the backcountry, except by permit and guided trips. The Superintendent has restricted access to the backcountry in this manner since 1996 in order to protect the archeological sites and historical resources within the Monument. This proposed rule would be informed by civic engagement and public participation opportunities throughout the park planning process. The Monument is located 26 miles north of Flagstaff, Arizona.
