General Comment

I have US Citizenship by birth and have never lived in the United States. All my bank accounts are in UK and by having to fill out FBARs each year I feel like I am doing something wrong by having UK accounts. UK banks are wary of taking me on as a customer as a result of my US dual nationality and I am being penalised for my US citizenship. I am just a normal person trying to create small savings and so I move money around to different accounts to get the best interest rate. Having to submit the highest amount in each account each year makes me look like have more money than I do because the money has been transferred sometimes to a few accounts during a year. The penalties for making a mistake are terrifying and the cost to get a professional to help me fill in the FBARs each year is hundreds of pounds.
