In January 2016, FSA implemented a Direct Farm Ownership Microloan that will provide Farm Ownership loans of up to $50,000, expected to most benefit beginning farmers, farmers with small farms that have less traditional farm operations, and specialty crop producers seeking to purchase or enlarge relatively smaller plots of land and are not typically FSA customers. The final rulemaking publication for this initiative will clarify the Direct Microloans for borrowers with microloans for both operating loans and farm ownership loans.
