The proposed rule would continue the Agency's efforts to improve and enhance the risk management of the single family housing guaranteed loan program.  By eliminating the property marketing period prior to claim settlement, transactional data is reduced thereby reducing the likelihood of improper payments. The amendment to the existing rule would give lenders the authority to assist the Agency in making the process more efficient and thus increasing the taxpayer savings by allowing the Customer Service Center to concentrate on other stages of the liquidation process.
