The Rural Housing Service (RHS) is an agency within the USDA Rural Development (RD) mission area. The SFH Rural Housing Site Loan programs, implemented under 7 CFR 1822, subpart G, provides loans to qualified organizations to help them carry, acquire, and develop land in rural areas. Consistent with RD’s goal that calls on its agencies to deliver programs efficiently, effectively, with integrity, and with a focus on customer service, the SFH program proposes updates and improvements that are intended to streamline and simplify SFH requirements to reduce paperwork and result in process improvement. The SFH Site Loan program has evolved, and the current regulations as codified restrict the Agency’s ability to be flexible with market changes. The SFH program staff routinely meets with its partners to provide them the opportunity to discuss suggestions for process improvement to reduce burden on grantees and borrowers, increase flexibility of the program and improve overall customer satisfaction.
