This rulemaking proposes changes to adjust meal pattern and monitoring requirements in the  Child Nutrition Programs. The purpose of these customer-focused  changes is to help State and local program operators overcome operational challenges that limit their ability to manage these programs efficiently. Implementation of the wide range of proposed changes and flexibilities is expected to simplify operational requirements, reduce food waste, increase efficiency, and make it easier for State and local program operators to provide nutritious meals to children and adult participants.
