<RULE_TITLE>Update of Short Supply Export Controls: Unprocessed Western Red Cedar</RULE_TITLE>
<![CDATA[The Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS) regulates the export of unprocessed western red cedar (harvested from Federal or State lands under harvest contracts entered into after September 30, 1979) under the Export Administration Regulations (EAR) short supply controls. A license is required for exports to all destinations, including Canada. There is a supplement in the EAR that provides a list of controlled unprocessed western red cedar (harvested for Federal or State lands under harvest contracts). This list provides relevant Schedule B numbers and commodity descriptions for this short supply commodity. The Schedule B numbers are now obsolete and commodity descriptions have been modified. This rule proposes to update this list to remove obsolete descriptions and Schedule B numbers and add relevant descriptions and Schedule B numbers for this short supply commodity. This rule also proposes to align the heading of Export Control Classification Number for unprocessed western red cedar to match the legal authority in the Export Administration Act, as well as amending the related listings in the short supply supplement and the text of the short supply controls.]]>
