Pursuant to Executive Order 13873, Securing the Information and Communications Technology and Services Supply Chain, (E.O. 13873) the Department of Commerce's Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS) finalized a rule addressing threats stemming from information and communications technology and services (ICTS) integral to connected vehicles on January 16, 2025, in which BIS identified and addressed undue or unacceptable risks to the United States connected vehicle supply chain stemming from the incorporation of certain ICTS designed, developed, manufactured or supplied by entities with a sufficient nexus to the People's Republic of China or the Russian Federation. The Final Rule became effective on March 17, 2025.
