This section of the CFR was last updated on 7 June 2013 (78 FR 34251) as part of the
Post-9/11 GI Bill. As both DoD and Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) had responsibilities for implementation and wanted to ensure service members, veterans, and families were aware of the new program, the initial rule included significant information explaining the entire program and not just DoD responsibilities. When the part was last revised, it only included the responsibilities of DoD, and is now being repealed since it only applies to members of the Uniformed Services. All responsibilities pertaining to persons who are not members of the Uniformed Services are addressed in current VA regulations and repeal of this rule will have no effect on VA regulations.
