This part prescribes practices and procedures for DoD to obtain from a financial institution the financial records of its customers. The current rule was last updated on 4 May 2006 (71FR 26221) and conveys internal Department policy and implementation. DoD is proposing revisions to only include content relating to those instances when the Department submits "formal written requests" to financial institutions for customer records, as described by 12 U.S.C. 3408, and has been done by several other Federal agencies.
