This proposed rule would implement sections 1902(a)(14), 1916, and 1916A of the Social Security Act, which permit states to require certain beneficiaries to share in the costs of providing medical assistance by charging premiums and cost sharing. The rule would further streamline cost sharing regulations to provide greater flexibility and decrease the burden of administrative requirements for states.
