We propose to revise our rules surrounding our temporary institutionalization policy to allow for the retroactive application of temporary institutionalization benefits for beneficiaries who were institutionalized no more than 90 days, when the beneficiary applies for it after discharge from their temporary institutionalization. We anticipate this policy, once finalized, may help ensure the accuracy of our payments and will reduce paperwork burdens for the agency.
