This rule will modify Head Start performance standards to implement provisions in the Improving Head Start for School Readiness Act of 2007. Head Start performance standards will be revised to take into account increased knowledge in the early childhood field since the standards were last updated more than 15 years ago. Changes will strengthen requirements on curriculum and assessment, supervision, health and safety, and governance. The rule will streamline existing regulations to eliminate unnecessary or duplicative requirements.
