This rule would simplify and clarify the valuation of Federal and Indian coal and Federal oil and gas. It is part of the Department of the Interior's regulatory retrospective review effort. This action combines previous advance notices of proposed rulemaking on Federal and Indian Coal Valuation (RIN 1012-AA00) and on Federal Oil and Gas Valuation (RIN 1012-AA01). This rule also would consolidate the definitions for oil, gas, and coal product valuation into a single subpart applicable to the Federal oil and gas and Federal and Indian Coal subparts.
