<RULE_TITLE>Endangered and Threatened Wildlife and Plants; Listing Determination and Critical Habitat Designation for the Florida Bonneted Bat</RULE_TITLE>
<![CDATA[We will make a listing determination and designate critical habitat for the Florida bonneted bat (Eumops floridanus) pursuant to the Endangered Species Act of 1973. We will propose to list as endangered and determine prudency and determinability of designating critical habitat for the species. The Florida bonneted bat only occurs in south and central Florida and has one of the most restricted distributions of any bat species in the New World. Habitat requirements are poorly understood, and no active natural roost sites are known. The species feeds on flying insects and forages high in the air over open water, wetlands, and other habitats. It has been known to roost in tree cavities, shafts of palm leaves, outcrops, buildings, and bat houses.]]>
