We will make a final determination on our proposal to list the eastern massasauga rattlesnake as threatened under the Endangered Species Act. The species is found in wet prairies, marshes, and lowlands along rivers and lakes in Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan, Iowa, Missouri, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and New York. We have determined that designating critical habitat for the eastern massasauga rattlesnake is not prudent, due to an increased risk of collection and persecution.
