This proposed rule would update the list of migratory bird species that are protected by the Migratory Bird Treaty Act, by either adding or removing species, based on new taxonomy and evidence of natural occurrence in the United States or U.S. territories. This rule is important for the American public to ensure transparency regarding when a permit is needed to take a migratory bird and to designate species that can be hunted.
