<RULE_TITLE>Solid Waste Management for Lake Chelan National Recreation Area</RULE_TITLE>
<![CDATA[This rule would authorize a solid waste transfer station within the boundaries of the Lake Chelan National Recreation Area to handle solid waste generated by the community of Stehekin, Washington. The rule will prevent adverse environmental impacts that would likely occur if NPS stopped accepting solid waste from the Stehekin community. Stehekin is an isolated inholding community only accessible by boat, float plane, or trail, with 100 year-round plus 300-400 seasonal residents. Non-NPS services and facilities in Stehekin include seasonal lodging options, food operations, and various small businesses that help support 45,000-50,000 visitors annually.]]>
