This proposed rule would amend the special regulations for Olympic National Park to replace regulations about fishing. The proposed rule would include a general statement that the superintendent may establish closures, restrictions, and permit requirements for fishing in accordance with fisheries management objectives within the park and criteria and procedures found in existing National Park Service regulations that give superintendents discretionary authority to manage visitor use of park areas (36 CFR 1.5). The superintendent would exercise this authority consistent with a fishery management plan under development that will reflect current and expected resource conditions and fishing activity.
