<ABSTRACT>

This rule would amend the special regulations for Natchez Trace Parkway to eliminate outdated and unnecessary restrictions on motor vehicle use. The rule would remove a one-ton weight limit for trucks; a requirement that utility type trailers be enclosed or covered; a requirement that all trailers be equipped with red taillights, red stoplights and mechanical turn signals; and a requirement that the towing vehicle and trailer may not exceed 55 feet in length. These changes would reflect the typical weight of trucks used today and defer to state law on trailer requirements.
