This rule proposes to modernize the Department’s Indian trust responsibility in the areas of energy and minerals. This rule would propose to increase the benefit to Indian beneficiaries by revising definitions, authorities, bonding requirements, royalty rates, and leasing and cooperative agreement processes. The Department will seek Tribal government input through consultation sessions held pursuant to Executive Order 13175 criteria and the Department’s policy on meaningful communication and collaboration with Tribal officials.
