This rule would amend EOIR regulations regarding its internal structure and organization, clarify the responsibilities of its components, and synchronize EOIR’s organizational regulations with the Department of Justice’s broader organizational regulations. This regulatory change is necessary due to the establishment of a new official component within EOIR in 2017, the Office of Policy, whose functions and responsibilities are not currently delineated in EOIR’s regulations.
