<p>This action removes from the Code of Federal Regulations interpretive bulletins that were published shortly after ERISA&rsquo;s enactment in 1974 but were rendered obsolete by subsequent Department guidance and the effect of Reorganization Plan No. 4 of 1978.&nbsp; Removing obsolete regulations eliminates potential confusion and the burden on the public of having to determine whether they need to comply with the regulations.&nbsp; This action is undertaken pursuant to Executive Order 14192, Unleashing Prosperity Through Deregulation.</p>
