The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) previously published an ANPRM on Mechanical Power Presses (June 2007) in which it identified several options for updating this standard, including issues related to hydraulic or pneumatic power presses and certain technological advances.

After review of the RFI comments, OSHA will limit this rulemaking to eliminating the reporting requirements for specific injuries. The agency believes these requirements create a burden on employers that does not result in significant reductions in injuries.
