U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) is adopting as final, with changes, proposed amendments to the CBP regulations that will establish a continuing education requirement for licensed customs brokers. The amendments will also allow CBP to accredit a limited number of organizations to evaluate and approve courses offered to meet the continuing education requirement. The continuing education requirement will increase professionalism within the broker community, enhance the subject matter expertise of brokers, keep brokers up to date on current customs laws and regulations, and improve overall trade compliance.
