The Department proposes priorities, requirements, and selection criteria for use in its discretionary grants competition for fiscal year 2018 and beyond under the Charter Schools Program (CSP) Grants to Charter Management Organizations for the Replication and Expansion of High-Quality Charter Schools (CMO grants). We take this action in order to support the replication and expansion of high-quality charter schools by charter management organizations throughout the Nation by strengthening several components of this program. The components include selection criteria that focus on the academic results of applicants’ schools and any statutory or regulatory compliance issues.
