The Department plans to propose to amend the Protection of Pupil Rights Amendment (PPRA) regulations, 34 CFR part 98, to update, clarify, and improve the current regulations by addressing outstanding policy issues. The proposed regulations are also needed to implement statutory amendments to PPRA contained in the Goals 2000: Educate America Act of 1994 and the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001, to reflect a change in the name of the office designated to administer PPRA, and to make changes related to the enforcement responsibilities of the office concerning PPRA.
