Various provisions of the Education Department General Administrative Regulations (EDGAR) will be revised for policy reasons or because they are outdated. The Department plans to review and amend or rescind these regulations as needed in order to be consistent with current law and to reduce or eliminate unnecessary burdens and restrictions. The Department is exploring, for example, the extent to which the eligibility of faith-based entities to obtain grants from the Department and the activities that they may perform unnecessarily restrict participation by religious entities in the Department’s grant programs. In addition, the Department is exploring whether revisions are needed to update grant requirements related to evidence, privacy protections, open licensing, and general grants procedures.
