This Presidential-level guidance would refine the radiation protection and dose limitation framework for the public, and may include numerical Radiation Protection Goals (i.e., dose limits). Because it is DOE’s preference to be consistent with Federal radiation protection policy, the Department is adjusting the schedule for part 834 in anticipation of revised Federal Guidance and will issue the rule following EPA action on the guidance. This will allow DOE to be consistent with the most current Presidential-level guidance upon its release. EPA's schedule for issuing the Federal Guidelines is currently tentative, therefore DOE cannot project a date for the next action on this rulemaking.
