DOE is considering whether to amend existing energy conservation standards and test procedures for small electric motors. Once completed, this rulemaking will fulfill DOE's statutory obligation to either propose amended energy conservation standards for small electric motors or to determine that the existing standards do not need to be amended. DOE is also considering whether to propose new energy conservation standards and test procedures for other motors not currently regulated.
