DOE is conducting a rulemaking to revise its certification and compliance regulations applicable to certain commercial and industrial equipment. Specifically, DOE is proposing changes to its reporting requirements for consumer and commercial HVAC products, pool heaters, commercial water heating equipment, automatic commercial ice makers, beverage vending machines, and walk-in coolers and walk-in freezer components to reduce reporting burden by eliminating the requirement to certify products no longer being manufactured but still being distributed in interstate commerce. DOE is also proposing changes to the certification and reporting requirements for products with energy conservation standards that have been recently amended to reflect changes in these standards. Finally, the notice proposes various minor revisions to existing certification and compliance procedures applicable to both consumer products and commercial and industrial equipment to improve the clarity and readability of the regulatory language, and to ensure that manufacturers report certification data accurately and consistently.
